Kibana is a powerful tool for visualize elasticsearch data, kibana can be even more powerful if you install plugins that available for it, such as sense, marvel, timelion, etc. Note that this tutorial is based on kibana version 4.5.1, newer kibanan version might be different.
how to install sense plugin
- stop kibana if it's currently running
- install sense plugin

sudo /opt/kibana/bin/kibana plugin --install elastic/sense
- start again kibana

sudo /opt/kibana/bin/kibana
- open browser http://0.0.0.0:5601/app/sense
how to install marvel plugin
- stop kibana if it's currently running
- install marvel plugin version 2.3.3

sudo /opt/kibana/bin/kibana plugin --install elasticsearch/marvel/2.3.3
- start again kibana
-
sudo /opt/kibana/bin/kibana
- open browser http://0.0.0.0:5601/app/marvel
how to install timelion plugin
- stop kibana if it's currently running
- install timelion plugin

sudo /opt/kibana/bin/kibana plugin --install elastic/timelion
- start again kibana

sudo /opt/kibana/bin/kibana
- open browser http://0.0.0.0:5601/app/timelion
How to remove kibana plugins (based on kibana 4.5.1)
To remove/uninstall a plugin you can do this:
sudo /opt/kibana/bin/kibana plugin --remove [plugin-name]
sudo /opt/kibana/bin/kibana plugin --remove marvel
