By default lubuntu comes with mozilla firefox as default web browser, so you don't need to install it manually, but you do need to upgrade/update it from time to time, so that you have the latest version with all security updates and bug fixes. In this article i will show you how to update/upgrade mozilla firefox on lubuntu 16.04.
If you are a regular reader of this blog, you'll know that i'm a big fan of command line, i'm a command line guy basically, so i'm going to show you how to update mozilla firefox through the command line, it's the best way to get things done on linux world.
Before we begin, you need to check the version of mozilla firefox that you have, to check firefox version simply open new tab on firefox and enter url about: or you can also do it from command line by running this:
firefox -v
Step by step how to upgrade/update Mozilla Firefox on Lubuntu 16.04
- step 1, open command line/terminal on your lubuntu (simply press CTRL + ALT + T)
- step 2, run apt-get update command

sudo apt-get update
- step 3, update mozilla firefox
-
sudo apt-get install --only-upgrade firefox
- done!
After upgrading, you need to restart the firefox and then check again the version, it should be upgraded to the latest stable mozilla firefox release. Enjoy your brand new firefox!
